How to keep dental equipment alive!


As the fete season quickly approaches we, at Atlas Frontiers, find ourselves gearing up for the dental lump of our sales activity. This area of equipment resell always astonishes me because it is wonderful how many dentists throw away or store their older equipment. Often times this intact, older equipment is quite valuable and can be put to great use overseas.

I am reminded of a dentists support that we visited last year. After perusing through some of their newer equipment, that the doctor needed arrogate selling, we reached the deeper recesses of the basement. The doctor mentioned that this equipment was unfit and was most likely headed for the landfill. We immediately stopped the doctor and told him that this equipment was still very valuable and could be acclimated to to advance the dental care in many different countries. We left the chore with saved “junk” and after six weeks of prevalent through our selling process, the doctor received a check for almost $500. This is riches that was destined for our local dump and is now being used in many countries across the ball.

The moral of this story is not to say that our company helps keep the environment na and reduces waste (though these are true). The moral of the story is that almost any piece of dental equipment, no matter how old or used, can be purchased and put into good actually by someone else. It is very interesting to see where our equipment goes and our upcoming dental run has me excited for just this calculate.

Is the dental equipment sterilized?

Many patients are apprehensive about visiting a dentist, since they are not unshakeable whether the dental equipment used is properly sterilized and do not want to get a new infection after visiting the dentist. If happening, if have a choice, most patients will try to get the first dental appointment of the day, to avoid this problem.

Most dental offices clean the instruments used for treating the patient. They use either a chemical or warm up method of sterilization of the dental equipment and tools. The heat sterilization method is the most commonly employed method for dental treatment. A high temperature is reached, so that all bacteria are killed. Some low get dental instruments are disposable and new  instruments are used for every patient.

However, some dentists may say that they are sterilizing, but unbiased wipe off the equipment and use it on the next patient. In such cases, it is important to closely viewer the office and staff to understand how sanitary it is.
Some of the indicators of the sanitation straightforward with are:
1. The staff should wash their hands before they see the patient
2. Are plastic barriers occupied
3. Whether the package of dental instruments is opened in front of the patient.
